So when you start writing, what they tell you is this. “You MUST write every single day.” But the hidden secret is that if you DO that, JUST write, all you will do is write. If you want to then SELL that writing, or just have other people READ it, you have to spend time doing non-writing things.
And to that end, this week my main focus has been geared towards trying to ensure people actually go and buy and read what I’ve been working on.
We’ve been working on building the presence and readership for Luci Phurr’s Imps by adding some bonus comics. If you haven’t been following us every new strip, you might be missing out on some extra comics that are available for only a short time, so remember, check out the site every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Additionally we’ve sent out the solicitations for my first book of the year, BATTLE SMASH! If you want to pre-order, drop into your local comic store and ask them to order. The information you need is in the link.

Monday brought home to me the downside of the Web Comic World. The upside is the connection with the readers - there’s no delay between the release of a new part of the comic and reader feedback. In some cases that can be words of appreciation from readers who are liking what we’re doing... sometimes it’s pointing out something we’ve missed and requires some quick typing to explain.
However, the downside that hit us this week was a complete lack of interwebs. For what felt like several days, the Luci Phurr’s Imps site was completely down. Now while it was only a couple of hours that we disappeared from view, that’s a big deal. For any of you guys out there that thought we’d gone for good, rest assured we’re still around and are already taking measures to make sure we have more control over that.
One of the unforeseen benefits of the downtime was that readers clearly went looking for us and found the Facebook page we have got more visits and a few more registered fans; and the Formspring page I set up to answer reader questions also had some activity.
